May I first point out that you are entitled to contact the European Parliament in any of the official languages of the EU, including of course Portuguese and to receive a reply in the same language. I recommend this in future since you will receive a more rapid reply from someone who is familiar with your country.

Given the serious situation which you describe, I would suggest that you write directly to the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso.

At the same time, I would suggest that you send a copy of your letter to Mr. Barroso to all Portuguese members of the European Parliament.
